Terabeam Wireless’ product portfolio has a rich heritage of deployment in the federal, state and local governments for a broad range of applications. Broadband wireless networking has become a technically feasible option for government-class IT systems. Wireless solutions offer flexibility and cost savings based on quicker installation cycles, ability to be deployed in geographically troubling areas, reduced operating cost and the ability to rapidly make networking changes. As deployment costs have come down, speeds have increased to gigabit performance. Our millimeterwave radio systems are used by the U.S. military in radar landing systems for unmanned air vehicles (UAVs). Our point-to-point links, providing to 1.42 Gbps of capacity with upto 99.999% availability, are ideal as secondary links for redundancy, or for building-to-building and cross-campus network extensions. Our free-space optics (FSO) products offer the additional security of using communication via light instead of radio frequency, and are deployable license-free worldwide. And our 4.9 GHz point-to-multipoint networking systems have been developed specifically for the frequency band dedicated by the FCC for public safety communications.

GigaLink®

Speed, capacity, security and reliability of fiber
Full-duplex operation with near-zero latency
Unprecedented cost effectiveness

Key Features

  • First FCC Part 15.255-certified millimeter wavelength system operating in the 57.05 to 64 GHz band
  • Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps), OC-3/STM-1 (155 Mbps), OC-12/STM-4 (622 Mbps) and Gigabit Ethernet (1 Gbps) full-duplex bandwidths
  • Extremely high link availability
  • Narrow beam width increases security and enables virtually interference-free operation
  • Third-generation, mature product line
  • Simple one-person installation and alignment
  • GUI-based integrated management and SNMP capabilities
  • Compact size and weight designed for outdoor deployments
  • Custom network planning and link deployment tools.

Security

GigaLink® provides the inherent security features of using the 60 GHz frequency band. The signal is nearly impossible to intercept due to the typically short ranges involved (less than 1 km), the narrow beamwidth (approximately 0.5 degrees), the low level of the receive signal, and the high cost of equipment required to attempt interception. In the extremely unlikely event that a signal was intercepted, recovery of any transmitted data would not be trivial; the deconvolution of the framing information and data signal would be another barrier to compromising data security.

For encryption on the GigaLink®, if desired, we recommend the use of security appliances, such as provided by our partner CipherOptics, who provide encryption to government agencies. CipherOptics IPSec appliances are uniquely suited to the demands of secure, high-speed, broadband wireless networking. By having the lowest latency of any encryption solution, and providing IPSec-based data security, CipherOptics is leading the way for simple, yet robust, wireless security. CipherOptics IPSec appliances fit easily into existing networks, supporting any IP-based protocol. Their "bump-in-the-wire" implementation allows them to be added to the network just before the data leaves to be transmitted over frequency bands. The CipherOptics IPSec appliance is installed between the internal network and the wireless interface connection.

TeraOptic™ 4221e

Free-Space Optics (FSO) point-to-point system

TeraOptic™ 4221e is the latest in a line of high-bandwidth, carrier-grade systems developed by Terabeam Wireless. It is unique among our solutions in that it operates via free-space optics and thus does not use radio frequency. The system is a cost-effective solution for high-bandwidth connectivity at ranges less than one kilometer, and is ideal for deployments such as mobile wireless backhaul, single customer access, multi-tenant building access, enterprise E1/T1, Fast Ethernet extension and LAN-to-LAN or campus connectivity.

Key Features

  • Designed for outdoor installations and provides bandwidths of 125 megabits per second (Mbps), independent of transport protocol
  • Ideal for dense metro deployments in the range of 20 meters to 1 kilometer
  • Operates at a wavelength of 850 nm and is completely eye-safe, with a Class 1 IEC/CDRH rating, which means no warning labels or access restrictions are required
  • License-free operation worldwide eliminates the need for spectrum licensing or frequency planning
  • Provides reliable performance using high-performance lasers with a mean time between failures (MTBF) of one million (1,000,000) hours
  • Lightweight, advanced industrial design includes an integrated optcalscope for ease of alignment and high/low power settings for optimized performance
  • Design includes advanced laser delivery technology which maximizes availability while maintaining eye safety
  • Compact size and weight designed for outdoor deployments
  • Includes built-in management functionality using Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) version 1
