Falls Church, VA - March 03, 1999: YDI, a manufacturer of wireless data communication equipment, announces the release of the LP-2, a lightning protector for the 2.4 GHz license free band as well as the MMDS licensed band. The LP-2 effectively protects Spread Spectrum radios, Wireless LAN Cards and Wireless Access Points from antenna lightning strikes and static buildup and at a low cost.
Using YDI DirectGround© technology, the LP-2 features direct electrical connection to ground with an instantaneous "turn-on time". There are no MOVs, TVSs, spark gaps or gas discharge tubes. It offers maximum protection and minimum insertion loss in the 2.1 through 2.7 GHz bands.
The LP-2 is an upgraded version of YDI's LP-1. YDI has engineered the LP-2 to be a more cost-effective product. Measuring 4.8" x 1.5" x 1.25", YDI has cut the size of the Lightning Protector in half, while also reducing the price.
