Fall Church, Virginia — March 10, 2003: Young Design, Inc. (YDI), a leading manufacturer of broadband solutions for Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISP), common carriers and mobile carriers announced today that it has placed a $0.8 million product order with interWAVE® Communications (NASDAQ: IWAV), a pioneer in compact wireless communications systems, for interWAVE's Link CX, high-capacity radio and in a separate transaction, YDI has purchased all of the remaining assets and licensed all of the technology related to the Link CX product line.

"The Link CX offers our customers the best price/performance package in the market today," said Robert E. Fitzgerald, CEO of YDI. "By taking over the Link CX product line, YDI now has a complete license free wireless solution for virtually any customer."

Len Gee, interWAVE's North America regional director, commented, "This transaction re-enforces the long term relationship between YDI and interWAVE, and we look forward to building that relationship over time."

The Link CX product line of point-to-point, high-capacity, all-outdoor radios is optimized for backhaul of converged voice and data and delivers 45 Mbps of full duplex actual throughput. Working in either the 5.3 GHz UNII band or the 5.8 GHz ISM band spectrums, the Link CX includes such features as automatic transmit power control, which minimizes interference from other radios; E3, DS3 and 10/100 Base-T digital interface options, which allow wireless network planners with similar wireline services to provide state-of-the-art transmission over Internet Protocol (IP); forward error correction, which increases radio reliability and allows it to seamlessly intermix wireline, wireless and fiber technologies; fully-hardened outdoor packaging allows the radio to be deployed completely outdoors in environments that range between minus 30 degrees Celsius to plus 60 degrees Celsius as well as Telco-grade design and performance, which enables long-lasting radio performance.
