Falls Church, Virginia September 04, 2003: YDI Wireless, Inc. (OTCBB:YDIW - News), a leading developer and supplier of broadband wireless solutions, today announced that it has received FCC Part 15 Certification for its new and innovative Max Ranger product.
"The Max Ranger is indicative of YDI's longstanding commitment to maximize the range and performance of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) devices. The Max Ranger is the perfect solution for indoor extended range WLAN applications such as Hot Spots, delivering high speed Internet to hotel rooms and multiple tenant units (MTU), and illuminating large areas such as airports and convention centers with 802.11 coverage. In addition, the Max Ranger will permit non-line-of-sight customer self-installs in selected campus and high density applications." explained Robert Fitzgerald, Chief Executive Officer of YDI.
The Max Ranger is a small 2.4 GHz indoor antenna with an integrated amplifier that extends the range of Wi-Fi WLAN devices. It features over 300 milliWatts of transmit power and has the effect of almost quadrupling the operating range of these devices. It is FCC Part 15 Certified for license-free operation with the YDI Sidekick and Sapphire WLAN cards. These cards can be used in Access Points, laptop computers, or the YDI Ethernet Converter (EC). The Max Ranger's internal antenna is horizontally polarized for optimum RF connection to other WLAN cards which typically also have horizontally polarized antennas. The Max Ranger is easy to install and configure and is ready to work right out of the box.
