YDI Wireless Introduces Link CX-24

YDI’s Highly Regarded Link CX
With 45 Mbps/DS-3 Connectivity Now Available At 24 GHz

Falls Church, Virginia — March 16, 2004: YDI Wireless, Inc. (OTCBB:YDIW), a leading developer and supplier of broadband wireless solutions, today introduced its Link CX-24 product, a new version of its popular Link CX product. The Link CX-24 has received certification for operation in the license free 24 GHz band from the Federal Communications Commission.

The Link CX-24 is optimized for transmission of converged voice and data and delivers 45 Mbps of full-duplex actual throughput (90 Mbps aggregate). By operating in the license free 24 GHz band, the Link CX-24 provides two significant advantages. First, its license free operation enables immediate nationwide deployment. Second, the Link CX-24's operation at millimeter wave frequencies significantly reduces the possibility of interference associated with the 2.4 and 5.8 GHz license free bands utilized by most competing products. The Link CX-24 is available with either a DS-3 or 10/100 Base-T digital interface option. Telco-grade design and fully-hardened outdoor packaging allows the product to be deployed completely outdoors and operate reliably in temperatures ranging from minus 30 degrees Celsius to plus 60 degrees Celsius. The Link CX-24 is easy to install, configure, and manage with a web browser. The antenna is integrated into the single outdoor unit and delivers over 2 watts of EIRP (Effective Radiated Transmit Power) providing reliable links of up to 3.9 miles.

"The Link CX has been a workhorse for many of our existing customers. By taking it up to 24 GHz, we have opened the product to an entirely new class of customers who are concerned about the interference risks associated with the lower frequency license free bands," states Robert Fitzgerald, Chief Executive Officer of YDI Wireless, who adds, "The CX-24 is an ideal high-capacity solution for cellular operators needing additional backhaul capacity for their new or existing cellular deployments. The new data rich services offered by mobile carriers such as text messaging, wireless Internet browsing, and camera phones are putting an increasing strain on the backhaul capabilities of cellular operators. By utilizing the CX-24, carriers can quickly add dramatic capacity upgrades to their infrastructure. The CX-24 is also well suited for carriers wishing to expand the reach of their networks or to provide redundant links. It is also ideal for private enterprises needing high-speed wireless bridges between buildings."
