Denver, CO November 16, 2004: Ricochet Networks, Inc., a Denver-based leading Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP), today announced the expansion of its wire-free Internet service to Aurora ¾ Colorado’s third largest city. When complete, this build-out will make the Ricochet Network available to an estimated 103,000 additional households. Ricochet service currently is available in Aurora between approximately Quincy Avenue and Buckley Road northwest to Iliff Avenue and Havana Street. The entire new coverage footprint, stretching northward to Interstate 70, is expected to be on line before the end of the year.
The Aurora expansion encompasses approximately 46 square miles and pushes the total Ricochet Network coverage area to nearly 216 square miles in the United States, specifically around Denver, Colorado and San Diego, California. This deployed “mesh-networking” infrastructure is the backbone of Ricochet’s patented Micro-Cellular Data Network (MCDN).
The Aurora expansion solidifies Ricochet’s position as a force in providing large-scale wireless Internet service for both municipal and residential use. As part of the expansion, Ricochet will provide wireless modems to the City of Aurora for government uses including mobile emergency preparedness and community outreach services. This mixture of government, public safety, and consumer solutions highlights the breadth and possibilities offered by Ricochet’s Network.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer additional customers the opportunity to experience wireless Internet in their daily lives,” stated Brad Lester, Ricochet’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We received great interest from many Aurora residents wanting affordable, fast, and portable Internet service in their neighborhoods. We definitely recognized and appreciate this opportunity and are proud to announce that the network expansion is quickly coming on line.”
Mr. Lester quickly added, “We take pride in proclaiming that Aurora will soon be the next Ricochet Wire-Free Internet city.”
Ricochet is working to further extend network coverage in both Denver and San Diego. In addition, Ricochet is analyzing numerous plans for large-scale network deployments in other areas to meet the rapidly growing demand for wire-free Internet access, in both the government and residential/business service sectors.
