Description
The AP Plus Turbo is a powerful, feature-rich, two channel,
11 Mbps wireless Access Point that operates on the licensefree
2.4 GHz band. It comes installed with the Terabeam
Wireless TurboCell® firmware upgrade which provides
enhanced features. TurboCell is designed to address specific
shortcomings of the wireless protocols defined by the 802.11
standards. It has evolved from being the pioneer highperformance
outdoor wireless protocol to becoming the world
leader and de facto standard for large and complex
broadband wireless network deployments. For indoor
applications, it extends the range of a wired Ethernet network
providing easy network access to both mobile users and
locations that are difficult to wire. With outdoor antennas and
amplifiers, long range line-of-site links are possible.
The AP Plus Turbo is great for use at a WIPOP (Wireless
Internet Point of Presence) to offer high-speed wireless
Internet services to numerous users. It can support two
independent WLAN cards. It is ideal for large area Wireless
LAN deployment and ease of scalability.
The AP Plus Turbo uses 802.1x security protocol, which
provides user-based authentication and automatic key
distribution in both directions. Additional features offered are
SNMP, MIB II and RADIUS support.
Note: Clients must run TurboCell software to be able to work with the AP Plus Turbo. They can not associate to standard 802.11b AP’s.
