Former President and CTO (YDI Wireless)

We do not ever recommend Silicon seal or glue. Its messy to work with, can leave gaps and is difficult to remove. Nor does heat-shrink tubing offer good waterproofing.

We recommend sealing tapes designed for outdoor use, such as the Scotch 2200 series of Vinyl Mastic rolls. These can be bought here: http://www.capeelectric.com/marion/catalog/3m1/3m1d.html

Another recommentation is 3M Scotch Super 88 Electrical Tape (or equiv). Its all weather, heavy duty, abrasion resistant, and UV resistance. This can be bought at most hardware stores

You can also let your Professional installer use use what he likes, provided that it is NOT silicon glue! (After all, he will take responsibility for the installation, right? So let him use what he likes.)

Since these are commodity items and so low-cost, YDI does not sell them.
